With this itinerary, you will visit the country’s two main cities: the romantic Hanoi in the North and the hectic Ho Chi Minh City in the South. See the Halong Bay in all its magnificience. Head pack to the pas in the Centre of Vietnam. Finally, discover the quaint rural life in the Mekong Delta.

Hanoi - Hai Phong - Halong Bay - Hue - Danang - Hoi An - Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta

Day 1:  Hanoi – Arrival

Arrival in Hanoi and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or to begin exploring the city. In the evening watch a performance of the renowned water puppet theatre whose origins date back over a thousand years

OVERNIGHT IN HANOI

Day 2:  Hanoi - Sightseeing - Bac Ninh - Hai Phong

Morning visit to the Ho Chi Minh Complex containing the former leader’s Mausoleum and stilt house and the One Pillar Pagoda followed by the Temple of Literature , Hoan Kiem Lake and the bustling Old Quarter. Afternoon drive to Bac Ninh, the cradle of traditional Vietnamese music and theatre. On arrival take a horse-drawn cart through country lanes to Dinh Bang communal house and Do temple. Listen to local folk songs before proceeding to Hai Phong.

OVERNIGHT IN HAI PHONG

Day 3:  Hai Phong – Halong Bay - Boat Cruise - Hanoi

Early morning drive to Halong Bay . Relax on a 5-hour boat cruise through magnificent Halong Bay , a UNESCO designated World Heritage site. Enjoy a seafood lunch on board. Return to Hanoi , stopping en route at the Dong Giao woodcarving village.

Optional: Spectacular helicopter tours of Halong Bay can also be arranged upon request.

Day 4: Hanoi - Hue - Sightseeing

Morning flight to Hue the former Imperial capital of Vietnam . Arrive in Hue and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon visit the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market. The spectacular Citadel is built on the same principles and design as Beijing's Forbidden Palace and contains a series of palaces, ornate halls, libraries, residences, and colleges.

Day 5:  Hue - Danang - Hoi An

Morning boat cruise on the romantic Perfume River . Visit the elegant Thien Mu Pagoda on the riverbank and the elaborate tombs of Emperor Khai Dinh and Tu Duc. Drive along the coast, through emerald-green paddy fields and over the spectacular Hai Van Mountain pass. En route, visit Danang’s Cham Museum with the world’s finest collection of Cham artwork. Upon arrival in the ancient port of Hoi An transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore.

Day 6: Hoi An – Sightseeing

Embark on a half-day walking tour of this quaint town visiting ancient merchants’ houses, a Hokkien temple, a 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the vibrant riverside market. Afternoon trip to a lantern workshop to learn the techniques involved and then create your own. Finish the day with a sunset boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Thanh Ha pottery village.

Day 7:  Hoi An - Danang – Ho Chi Minh City                           

 B/L/D)

Depart Hoi An for Danang to catch the flight to Ho Chi Minh City . Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel where the rest of the day is free. There is the option of a walking tour of the city’s two most famous streets - Dong Khoi St (formerly Rue Catinat) and Le Cong Kieu St.

OVERNIGHT IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels – Sightseeing

Drive to the remarkable Cu Chi tunnels outside Ho Chi Minh City . During the war “Viet Cong” guerillas built the labyrinth of narrow tunnels using them to hide during bombing raids and stage surprise attacks. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon for a half-day city tour including the Reunification Palace , Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Chinatown, Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Temple.

OVERNIGHT IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Day 9:  Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre - Boat Cruise

Depart Ho Chi Minh City for a scenic drive through the Mekong Delta. At My Tho take a boat to an island with orchard gardens. Take a horse-drawn cart to Quoi Son to visit a bee farm and enjoy tea and candies. Float on a sampan through the narrow, tree-lined canals of the Mekong Delta. Continue by boat to a family-run enterprise making coconut candy. After lunch at Qui island return by boat to My Tho and the Vinh Trang pagoda if time permits. Return to Ho Chi Minh City by late afternoon.

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City – Departure

The morning is free for shopping before transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for departure.
