Day 1: Hanoi – Kenh Ga – Hoa Lu – Ninh Binh

Drive to Kenh Ga, a secluded floating village in Ninh Binh with a dramatic landscape of limestone cliffs and caves. Travel serenely through the village by motorboat and rowboat witnessing scenes of fishermen, children going to school, and everyday life along the riverfront. Take a brief walk through rice fields to Van Trinh cave. Afternoon proceed to Ninh Binh, stopping en route at Hoa Lu to visit temples dedicated to two ancient Vietnamese kings.

Day 2: Ninh Binh – Thung Nang Cycling – Water Puppet – Hai Phong

In the morning start cycling to Thung Nang valley through pleasant mountain scenery stopping to meet children at a kindergarten. Boat cruise to Thung Nang valley and take a short walk. Cruise back to dock and cycle back to Tam Coc. In the afternoon drive to Hai Phong stopping en route at Pho Minh Pagoda and a small village famed for being the birthplace of water puppetry in the Red River Delta. Enjoy a water puppet performance, eat local delicacies and fly lanterns for good luck before proceeding to Hai Phong.

Day 3: Hai Phong - Halong Bay

Drive to Vietnam’s most spectacular natural wonder, Halong Bay. Board a refurbished wooden sailing junk for a cruise through the limestone cliffs and emerald waters of Halong Bay. Drop anchor for the night near a remote island.

Day 4: Halong Bay - Boat Cruise - Hanoi
|

Spend a half-day cruising through new waters, stopping to visit colorful grottoes and swim near deserted beaches. Return to Hanoi in the afternoon stopping en route at Dong Trieu ceramics factory.
